California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform (CANHR) press conference at 11:00 A.M. (PST) on Monday, June 29, 2020 via Zoom to announce a June 30th Day of Action for restoring visitation rights for long term care facility residents who have not seen their family members the past three months.
CANHR staff, family members of nursing home residents and representatives from other advocacy organizations including Disability Rights California, Justice in Aging, Western Center on Law and Poverty and the Institute on Aging announced their opposition to proposed cuts in home and community based services, and the reinstitution of draconian Medi-Cal recovery policies. CANHR also called for reinstating visitation rights for family members of nursing home and assisted living residents who have not seen their family members for over two months.
California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform held a press conference at 11:30 am on Monday, April 20, 2020 via Zoom to announce their opposition to a proposed executive order sought by health care providers making them immune from claims arising from even dangerous and reckless conduct in treating patients with COVID-19. CANHR staff were joined by family members of nursing home residents and representatives from AARP, Consumer Attorneys of California and Senior and Disability Action.
